Fugashin Shoemaker

Fugashin was founded in 1989 as a specialised manufacturer of Goodyear welted footwear for the Japanese market. Fugashin Shoemaker, the brand (2014), is now a Japanese-Vietnamese joint-venture and has earned a reputation for meticulous workmanship and quality output.

Passion in shoemaking

In Japanese, the word 'fuga' is used to express traditional art sensitivity. To reflect the spirit of shoemaking, Fuga was combined with Shin (or passion). Fugashin Shoemakers is the perfect name for a shoemaker that prides itself on quality craftsmanship. Fugashin, like other Japanese shoemakers, brings a new level of artistry to footwear and in less than a decade, it has arguably become the best ready-to-wear shoemaker in the region.

Why Fugashin?

As much as we would have liked to have made our shoes in Australia, It is not possible to make Goodyear welted footwear in a country that no longer has an industry to support the technical and material requirements of welted shoemaking.

Fugashin Shoemakers is a family-run business with workshops in Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh. Their passion and expertise is evident in the shoes they produce and we're proud to bring this level of craftsmanship to our Australian customers.

TGC has collaborated with Fugashin Saigon to produce the 2020 Collection. Our footwear is crafted using the labour-intensive Goodyear welt or Stitchdown construction methods. Each shoe is meticulously made to a standard that Fugashin is proud to put its name on.

See why Fugashin is regarded as the best 'ready-to-wear' shoemaker in the region.
